Can I use the iPhone if I have these things?

I've searched around for answers but have not found results.


I have an unused t-Mobile SIM card. And an in the box 8 gig iPhone.

Do I need to pay t-Mobile for their service or will this "hack" I've been reading about do it for me.

I don't have wifi at my house currently, can I still make and receive phone calls and SMS with EDGE? Can I do it with the hack so I don't need to pay for it?

Can I use installer with EDGE?

Does T-Mobile even have EDGE?

You need service with TMO for calls and SMS

You can use installer in EDGE but very, very, very slow

I'm on TMO and EDGE works fine

in order to use the phone function of any GSM phone you need to pay a service provider for that service. Wifi is used for data not voice
