Gevey 3G

so yesterday I got my iphone 3G replaced at the apple store and it came with 2.02 firmware, I didn't want to update to 2.1 because of a comment someone made about the 3G unlock being worked on early 2.x firmware....but gevey 3G ain't giving me edge...I followed all tuts. And reset network settings, installed/uninstalled tzones hack,data roaming on...everything but I got nada....what should I do?

Not really sure, I would update to 2.1 and see what happens. Can't you downgrade to 2.02 if nothing happens? Anyways sorry if I'm not much help. I was wondering were you got your gevey3G?

I have an 3G 16gig white Iphone that I'm ready to unlock and wondering which is the best sim to unlock it with.

I got mine working with the original GEVEY-3G (watch out for fake ones). Actually, a new model came out, the GEVEY-3G plus. I think they fixed the Airplane mode on that one. Mine is the older one, and so far it works great.

I have an iPhone 3G running firmware 2.1 using a T-mobile SIM unlocked by a Gevey-3G Plus SIM unlocker. I originally had no edge either until I installed BigBoss's TZones Hack in the Cydia installer. This resolved my problems. I will now see either "o" or "E" depending.

o = GPRS
E = EDGE

As for Network Settings, turn off 3G, enable "Data Roaming" and enter the correct APN strings in Cellular network for your T-Mobile plan.

If you manually installed the TZone hack, delete proxy.pac and remove the information you entered into preferences.plist; then re-install BigBoss's TZone Hack found in the Cydia installer. Reboot after making these changes. It should resolve your problem. Good luck.
