Can't make calls. Help!!

My iphone is crashing when i try to open the keypad to make a call. I can't make calls using the keypad. I try to open it and it just keep closing automatically after two seconds
I could me calls using conctact icon(not in dock bar where phone icon is) but when i make these calls there is a bar up where the time is that says "touch to return to call" I touch that but nothing happens. The only way I can end this call is by turning off my phone.
this is so weird. I have had app crashes but never this (phone icon in dock panel).

Try to restore the phone.

if you have a program called KATE uninstall it, reboot and see if the phone comes back.
also, unistall anything that you loaded since the last time your phone worked.
