Upgraded my iPhone 3G to 2.2.1 last night and when I re-installed SwirlyMMS i was able to send one MMS message and received one successfully as well. I received a second MMS this morning and when i click on the message i'm back to Fetch Error: unexpected http response (-1) ended up paying the $8 for nothing... how frustrating!!!

Same here.
T-Mo, iPhone 3G, 2.2.1, bootloader 5.9, jailbroken, Gevey Turbo SIM, unlimited text msg plan, data plan.
have tried everything here and nothing. Every other app on phone works just fine. Google Earth, GasBag, Locly, Qik....even iPhone SMS works. Just wanted more...like maybe forwarding a text. How in heck can you forget to put forwarding in a txt msg app??????? or sharing or at least add recipient.
I used the T-Mo text msg to let it set it up. Picked phone: Sony-Erricson K750i and it set below which looks correct.
3G = Off
EDGE = On
APN = wap.voicestream.com
MMSC = http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Proxy = 216.155.165.050:8080
Went to manual setting page (swirlyspace.com/mmssettings) and all the MMSC addys dont have "http://" so removed it. Also I added the third number to last octet ".084" and also same in proxy ".050" as someone else suggested.
tried the MMSC = mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
with APN and without....
Rebooting every after every change in settings.
With WiFi ON with it OFF.
i know its trying cause I turned EDGE off and it sees that it is Off. can also here it in the PC speakers as its contacting towers.
Still fails on retrieving demo license, just gives error of "Failed".
I think its on Swirly side.
Well 1.5 hrs later:
Just spent much wasted time that I could have been sleeping for work tomorrow. Could not connect thru WinSPC so tried to delete the MMSApp directory in mobile terminal on the phone. Had to look for commands in Unix to do so as i have never done any programming in Unix. Found it and was not easy so looked for easier way an found PuTTY ...BUT could not get it to connect either. Probably my stupid AT&T 2Wire router blocking crap. SOOOO finally figured out that I can rename the MMSApp directory in Mobile Terminal on the phone. SOOO remove Swirly in Cydia Manage and rebooted and renamed MMSApp dir to MMSAppold...rebooted.. Reinstalled SwirlyMMS rebooted...got on T-Mo site to send settings...goto all of it ...rebooted......and guess what....
STILL NOT A F**K*NG THING. STILL GIVES "FAILED!" WHEN TRYING TO RETRIEVE LICENSE. iTS SOMETHING TO DO WITH SWIRLY. LOOKS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO. NOT ONLY ON T-MO.
Anyway figured I would share incase someone is in same as me... looking for help and answers. Went to Swirlyspace.com and looks like people have asked for support but have gotten no response.
also there is a crack for swirly:

OOPPPSSS guess not for new version.

Little update. I can receive but when I go to get message it says no valid license. Talked to a friend that says since I have 3G phone I need swirlymms2. But I have to pay for it and I would love to see it work before i buy. Its cheap yes but still would like to see how it is. Guess I am buying it.
About 30 minutes later:
Bought app. waited for green M. still came up with an error. But i am now geting same error as aeveryone else of http error. found these setting: http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm22882.xml
So I removed the port setting ":8080" and it works perfect.
Hope this helps.Last edited by robertguero; 05-16-2009 at 03:09 PM.

try putting your sim in another phone, not an iphone,
make a phone call
send a mms message
i believe it was something about signing into media as well
MEdia Net brings entertainment to your phone | Wireless from AT&T, formerly Cingular
then put your sim back into ur iphone and it should work..

Yup it works for me...
It basiclly tricks AT&T into thinking u have another phone.
I found this method online somewhere and I can vouch that it works.
If u get fetch errors try my method, not like it's gonna hurt anything

You do realize that the original thread was in 10/2008 and before you bumped it the last reply was 3 months ago right?
Not to mention that everyone is probably on different firmware, different version of swirly or using the native mms now. Also AT&T MMS will be available soon enough anyways.
