I have a 1st gen iPhone with 2.1 firmware and the $5.99 T-Zones plan. I'll be traveling in Europe soon and would like to use it mostly for wifi web access, occasional email check via Edge and perhaps an outgoing call or two.
Any suggestions as to what service options to turn on or off with T-Mobile?
Besides the roaming charges, getting billed for voicemails seems to be an issue.
- Unconditional Call Forwarding means no charges except for outgoing calls and data roaming?
- Is there a way to disable the carrier access, so only wifi is on?
unlock your phone...where ever youre at in Europe...buy a prepaid SIM of that country's service...voila...why roam? hefty bill later if you dont watch it.
Use bossprefs and you can select what to turn off.
I am currently overseas traveling with my phone and have it on airplane mode and turn on wifi when I need it or just the phone and use boss prefs to turn off edge.
