Can't connect overseas

I have T-mobile and i thought the Iphone was Quadband but i can't connect to the networks over here in the middle eastern countries. I can see the networks but can't connect manually or automatic. Do i need to buy a sim card from here or change some settings on my phone. Thanks fi anyone can give me a hand...

Your best bet would be to buy a sim from there, since you're unlocked anyways. Though from what I remember, sim prices are outrageous there.

Thanks i bought a sim card and everything works great... just remember if anyone has the same issue just buy a prepaid sim card with minutes just use it with a calling card. i bought a 60 minute sim card and used a calling card spoke for about an hour and checked my minutes and i still have 58 minutes left......
