T-Mobile Tzones Hack on 2.0

Ok well my iphone is jailbroken on 2.0. I opened cydia and I noticed that they now have the tzones hack again.

So now, what do I have to do after I call tmobile and get the tzones plan? I first go to cydia and download the tzones hack. Then what?

Also, what can I use the connection I get through tzones on? Does it only work for safari to go on websites slowly or does it also work with google maps, aim and other apps? Is it worth paying $5.99?

then go to setting/general/network/cellular data network/ (in the iphone)

in the APN put:
"wap.voicestream.com"

and leave the username and password the same


reboot iphone and you should be able to use it....

only youtube won't work (i think)


so save yourself $14 a month and get the tzone

it does go pretty slow but you are able to get the internet and all other things you mentioned I had to restart the phone a couple times before it finally let me connect right but it did work for all this

it is true you can't get YouTube and on maps you can use it but the "current location" funtion will not work but if you know where you are it will work

for some reason I can't seem to find the option to add the $5.99 tzone option when try to add new services to my t-mobile account. Is it under something else or do you need to talk to a t-mobile rep to get it activated?

BTW I added the tzones hack to my first gen iphone running 2.0.1 and also added wap.voicestream.com and I can connect to the internet without any problems. I can use google maps and the locate me function seems to work ok. ebay works fine. I can't say if aim works since I don't use it.

BTW part 2: I just checked my phone speed using the speed test on dslreports.org and it says I am getting 131kbps. With this I must already have the zone package and using the EDGE network .... woo hoo!

to add the tzone option you have to set the phone to be like a razr or krazr, a cheap phone basically, or you can call tmo

Easy way to get tzones activated is if you just go to your tmobile cellphone and dial 611. Then talk to a rep and tell them you want tzones. It all gets done pretty quick. Idk how long it takes for tzones to start working after its activated.

ok problem. I got tzones activated about a hour ago and right after it was activated, I went to cydia and downloaded the tzones hack. I went to " setting/general/network/cellular data network/" and under APN it already said "wap.voicestream.com" and the username and pass was empty. So next I turned off my iphone and my wifi and turned the phone back on and it safari still doesn't. After turning the phone off and on for about 5 times it still doesn't work. Now it says "internal error You do not have access to the site in www.google.com/" when I try to go on google.

How do I get it to work? Do I just have to wait more than a hour for tzones to become active?

Ok after I called tmobile and activated tzones, I downloaded the tzones hack from cydia. Then restarted the iphone like 5 times and still didnt work. After waiting about 1 hr 30min - 2 hrs it started working perfectly! Only thing that didnt work was youtube. All apps worked!

So have patience and it will work! Hope this helps others that had that problem!

p.s. yes the tzones hack still does work on 2.0 firmware on the iphone 2g.

That's what I did. I actually logged into tmobile.com, checked the $5.99 web and did the Tzones hack. Works like a charm. Everything works perfectly except Youtube (which only works on wifi).

i just loked at tzone on t-mobiles website and it says it only cost $5.99. what is the point in this hack then? did t-mobile just lower the price?

im gonna assume the tzones hack is so us iphone owners can have the net on the iphones, thru tmobile... cheaper and better service on the great iphone.
