OK. I was on AT&T back when the first gen iPhone came out. It became a family plan once a fellow member of my bloodline smelled Rollover minute benefits. The bill came to about $110/month. ::meh:: Anyway, kept AT&T and jailbroke 1.1.4 using iPlus 2.0b. (I loved Poof, Kate and Customize.)

Decided to go to T-Mobile for their cheaper plans and the fact that T-Mobile was a popular carrier to move the iPhone to. I didn't need all those minutes and a Twitter client replaced my need to update it via text message, which was the only reason I would text anyway; so I didn't need that feature either. Ordered a plan and a free phone online. Added TMobileWeb (AKA T-Zones) via My T-Mobile and switched the SIM card. On 1.1.4 installed TZones hack through Installer. Once Pwnage 2.0.1 came out, used it to pwn 2.0 then unlock/jailbreak my iPhone and installed the TZones hack through Cydia. Done boring you guys. Here are the details:

8GB iPhone (1st gen) 2.0 pwned with Pwnage 2.0.1
4.6 Bootloader (Neutered/Unlocked with BootNeuter 2.0)
TZones Hack (installed thru Cydia)
Poof (installed thru Cydia) [dealmaker for upgrading to 2.0 in the first place] I was willing to lose theming as long as I could hide apps I don't/won't ever use!

P.S. The rumor is true; keeping two "Individual" accounts is cheaper then one "Family" plan. As I mentioned, the family plan on AT&T cost up to $110/month. Had I gotten a 3G it would go up to $140/month. Apple deemed me ineligible and AT&T kept selling out. {blessing in disguise/divine intervention/karmic retribution? Who cares?!?} T-Mo now asks for about $35/month and AT&T now only takes $32/month thanks to a corporate discount that would not apply to the iPhone. My kind of cell phone bill! w00t! w00t!

P.S.S. TMobileWeb and T-Mobile Total Internet are the same. TMobileWeb is slower because everything goes through the T-MobileWeb proxy which is a Nokia HTTP-To-WAP box which has to process everything before it's delivered. I posted my speed results from iphonespeedtest.com, which are, IMO, quite good.

Can you clarify ... Do you have the $5.99 Tzone plan?

I do not have the $5.99 plan and the Tzone Hack via Cyndia does not work. I do not get the "E" symbol on the status bar. Now on 1.1.4 the "1.1.4 Tzone Hack" got me on Edge.

i typed wap.voicestream into the APN , and left the password blanks under data service...in menu. the same for tmobile users on earlier FW. my E (edge) works great. on 2.0FW off of WinPwn 2.0.0.3

Yes, I do have the $5.99 TMobileWeb (AKA T-Zones) service active. Screenshot was attached. You say you do not have it. If you have the Total Internet Plan ($19.99) it should work without any hack whatsoever.

You said that on 1.1.4 the TZones hack got your EDGE working. You probably have TZones on your TMobile account. Check with TMobile... just to be sure.

Uninstall then reinstall the hack via Cydia, reboot your iPhone, make sure "wap.voicestream.com" is in Settings>>General>>Network>>Cellular Data Network, input and reboot if not and trying accessing EDGE again.

TZones hack working perfectly in 2.0.1!!

Remember: Do not unarchive the 2.0.2 Pwnage update using The Unarchiver. Cydia will do nothing but crash if you do!
