Im having trouble with secure emptying my trash or emptying it period for that matter. I have some old backups I want to get rid of to free up space on my external hard drive. Whenever I try to secure empty the trash it comes up with an error message that says, "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)." Ideas anyone?

You can try firing up the terminal and typing:

sudo rm -rf /.trashes/*

Don't screw up that command though, or you might end up wiping your hdd!
