Noobs on Themes and skins

Dear Experts
Please help me with a couple of issue im having with my iphone, i'm very much appreciate.
1.I'm current on version 1.1.3 and it seems that Customize doesnt work any more so i cant change and image like i used to could on the older version, can anyone give any advice on how to change it??
2. For some of the Summerboard theme, i installed it, but it wont work, i have no idea why? do you??
3. I've just installed Liberty+, but cant seem to work it. It tells me to do and download some Payloads from some site, but the addr is not working.
I'm really new at this and any help out there would be greatly appreciate. Thank you very much for you time.
