    So Jato,
I'm sure you've already thought of this but I applied the icon artwork file to a non-retina device by removing @2x. It worx....but isn't pretty. Hopefully your automated system can address these non-@2x devices.

The bottom pic shows what the regular size (29x29) looks like vs. the @2x size.

That will require another custom set of JSON scripts & Hexxing the iconCache file. At this stage I won't be offering that support. I may once I have it all automated but I've got enough on my plate as it is!

Still working on your files too!

Thought about it, 29x29px will mean half the byte size from 58x58px. Ill look into it later dude. But yuh don't use the Retina iconCache file in non retina devices.

The png stays as 58x58 when it's expecting 29x29pixel

I figured it'd be a whole different type of recompiling.... Oh well!

As far as using Retina images in non-retina devices; I was just trying it to see what would happen! Honestly, I didn't even think it'd work! Goes to show us, though, that iOS is reading all the other pieces of your code the same way. It's just dependent on the type of images being recompiled!

Don't waste your time with non-retina devices, Jato* - That goes for everyone. Apps and themes and mods need to stop offering legacy support so the industry will move forward.

There's only one retina iPad mini and it just came out a few months ago. You're saying everyone w/ the 1st Gen Mini or iPad 2 should lack this type of theming? Idk, seems too early to kill off non-retina theming; a year from now, I'd be singing a different tune.

If Daves iOS-artwork.py script worked with no issues it would be fine! Only 1 JSON file per version of the iconCache file! But instead I've manually hacked the iconCache into 3 .artwork files & wrote the JSON file for each section.

    Opposite to recompile!

I agree with you. At least a year more.. BUT themers should focus on retina first. And if begged by enough of the JB community - convert for non-retina 2nd.
Here to help if I can. If I can't I know someone who can!

I think Apple dropped the ball with the first gen iPad mini's resolution. Sure it was to test the waters but once the iPad 2 is dropped (iOS7 must be a bane to use on it) that leaves the first gen iPad mini as the only non retina device in their line up?

That Apple will have to supply a SD (Non Retina) SDK for & only that one device.

I bet they're beating their heads against the wall! Don't get me wrong i think the iPad mini 1st & 2nd gen are great. But in terms of the SDK it seems like extra work to maintain for the 1st gen only.

I bet, man! You've become real popular, real quick!!!

BTW, good points about the non-retina devices. That's why I said one more year and I'd agree w/ not supporting them. I had to setup an action in PS to convert all my retina pngs to non-retina which is a pain in the butt to have to support. But...I have a 1st gen mini so it is what it is....

Usually they keep their devices in a 4 yr cycle so the iPad mini 1st Gen might see support for a few more years yet! Even more frustration for Apple!

Agree it is! But once u have the process automated it shouldn't be hard to address.

Hey guys, I'm new to this thread stuff. I hope to help as much as a I can (where I can)

So I was wondering where the in app elements are located and how they are themed respectively. For example if I wanted to theme the Shuffle icon in the Music.app where would I start by finding the UI elements.

Secondly, what folders are then needed to theme these elements, where do they go.

If anyone has/could write up a guide on how to do so that would much appreciated.

Thanks to @Jato_BZ for inviting me here.

If I can help in any way, please let me know. Take care guys,

    Kyler

Hey guys, I'm new to this thread stuff and how it works however, thanks to @Jato_BZ for inviting me.

So, I was wondering how I'd go about theming UI elements of native iOS7 apps. For example, if I wanted to theme the Shuffle icon in the Music app, how would I locate the respective icon and then theme accordingly. So which folders are needed?

If anyone has/could write up a guide on how to do so, that would be much appreciated.

If I can help in anyway, let me know.
