Thread: New "Slide to read" issue with email notifications

  1. #1
    Default New "Slide to read" issue with email notifications
    I just recently started getting "Slide to Read" popping up on my lock screen when I receive email notifications. I have gone through and made sure that the en.lproj, en_GB.lproj and English.lproj (the later two just for good measure) SpringBoard.strings in my com.apple.springboard folder of my themes are as follows;

    "AWAY_LOCK_LABEL" = " ";
    "AWAY_LOCK_LABEL_SHORT" = " ";
    "CALENDAR_LOCK_LABEL" = " ";
    "AWAY_LOCK_LABEL_FORMAT" = " ";
    "POWER_DOWN_LOCK_LABEL" = " ";
    "REMOTE_NOTIFICATIONS_LOCK_FORMAT" = " ";
    "REMOTE_NOTIFICATIONS_LOCK_LABEL" = " ";
    "SLIDE_TO_ANSWER" = " ";
    "SLIDE_TO_CALL_BACK" = " ";
    "SLIDE_TO_CANCEL" = " ";
    "SLIDE_TO_STOP" = " ";
    "SMS_LOCK_LABEL" = " ";

    But I am still getting "Slide to Read" on my lock screen when I get an email notification (see picture). Does anyone see something that I am missing? If so please point it out to me, because I am going bald with this. Thank you.

    It's in it's own separate directory

    Nav to

    /System/Library/BulletinBoardPlugins/MailDataProvider.bundle

    Then select the folder of your chosen language

    And mod the MailBulletin.strings line

    "SLIDE_TO_READ" = "slide to read";

    See how you go.

    Also make sure that there isn't a space between the quotes.

    This ""

    Not this " "

    Happy to help! I also changed my Slide to Answer strings for an incoming call.

    This was in /System/Library/SpringBoardPlugins/IncomingCall.servicebundle

    If you haven't found them already.

    One last question, hopefully you will know. If I wanted to add that to my theme, where would I put the folder and what would I name it? Would it be under bundles and something like com.apple.BulletinBoardPlugins? Or would I not be able to add that to a theme?

    Thanks again.

    Yip fully possible, I use Bundles so inside of that, create a new folder

    Named:

    com.apple.mobilemail.MailDataProvider

    Create another folder inside that folder of the desired language

    There is a trick to getting the English version to work.

    en.Iproj

    Not English.Iproj

    I think it's a WB thing.

    Then place the modded strings within that.

    Let me know how u go

    Thank you. Would I name the strings file MailBulletin.strings? I just tried this and it didn't work, so I'm wondering if I'm naming the strings file name wrong.

    Never mind. I got it to work. I really appreciate your helpfulness. Now I just need to add that and update all of my HTML lockscreens on Cydia.

    Cool, was there an issue with the method I outlined???

    I haven't tested that particular fix but it's worked for other strings file.

    If you let me know the fix that would be great.

    Good luck with your theme

    I put folder com.apple.mobilemail.MailDataProvider in the bundles folder, created a folder named en.lproj (I think yours was just a typo, but it is .lproj not .Iproj) and placed the string file named MailBulletin.strings with the string "SLIDE_TO_READ" = ""; in it and it is working perfectly. No more text at the bottom.

    Awesome. I'm a huge Iron Man fan as well. I just published this Iron Man Lockscreen Theme for i4 and i5 yesterday and the Thor one will be on Cydia tomorrow.

    Okay, here I am again. I'm running into the "Slide to stop alarm" on my lockscreen. I thought I narrowed it down to the /var/stash/Applications/MobileTimer.app folder, so I created a file named com.apple.mobiletimer placed that in Bundles of my theme, then placed the Localizable.strings file with the string "ALARM_LOCK_LABEL" = ""; in an en.lproj folder. But that didn't fix it. What am I missing?

    And as always, thank you for your knowledge.

    No you're bang on there! I have mine modded but in the app not as a theme.

    Have u tried creating a folder English and trying it in that version too?

    See how u go.

    Actually that was on my 4S on 5.1.1. I couldn't get it to work on iOS 6!

    Sorry dude

    Okay, no problem. At least I know that I wasn't the only one. I'm going to leave it alone for the rest of the night and then mess around with it tomorrow. There has to be a way. I'll let you know what I come up with.

    Thanks again.

    I managed to get it only to work by modding the strings in en_GB.lproj folder not as a theme. That must be WinterBoard related why it's not picking it up under that other folder.

    Have a go with that folder. Probably best to put

    en.lproj
    en_GB.lproj
    English.lproj

    Folders in all your theme folders of the apps you're wanting to mod with the modded strings in each of them.

    Yeah, I've tried adding all three folders to the theme with the edited string and still can't get it to remove the slide to stop alarm text from popping up. I'm going to keep trying and I'll let you know when (because I will) figure it out.

    Thanks again for the help.
