Thread: iOS6x Theme GUIDE

  1. #61
    Jato_BZ,

I am trying to manual theme my SMS background on a iPhone 5 iOS 6.1. I did this back on 4.x and never had a issue with it and wanted to try to get back in to the game. But my problem is my background was completed but whenever I open the SMS app the image briefly appears and then disappears as the SMS defaults back to the original. I thought I replaced the files but it seems I am missing one that keeps overwriting my custom png.

Thanks for any tips you can provide

Till now I had them here: /var/stash/Themes.xxxxxx/theme/Icons (and for example Telephone.png, size 60x60).

    Thank you very, very much!
Icons don't work like that any more.
I used Icon thief in cydia to get my entire icon library.
You then have to replace and resize your images

Alright, I have used icon theif and resized all my icons.
All of them work except: Mail, Maps, Contacts, Phone and Stocks.
Are those icons held somewhere else?

    Thank you for this guide!

    2 questions:
    1) What are the iPhone 5 images names for EDGE, 3G, 4G, LTE?
    2) Are there changes to the image names for non-retina devices (iPhone 3GS namely)? I'm wondering if I need to update my packages for SD devices or not.

The best/fastest way to find an unthemed Shared.artwork or UIImages image is to go into Winterboard and go to advanced then toggle on record images. use iFile or whatever program you are using to put the images in your theme folder and go to the directory /tmp/UIImages all the unthemed images will show up in there. You have to add the @2x yourself to the file name after.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I tried that, but no luck here. That image doesn't show up.

I'm not sure on the SD artwork if someone can Dropbox it I could look at extracting it.

Do u have access to photoshop or Gimp? All u need to do is make a new file at 2px by 6px high
    Keep it transparent

    Save as

    [email protected]

Place that image in Your Theme/UIImages

    See how u go

UIPinstripe is named the same from iOS 5 to 6 but in 6 it's 2 px high not just 1

    iOS 5 1024x1px
    iOS 6 1024x2px

    See if that helps

Sorry for the lack of clarification, but I have attached a picture of the image I want to remove. When reading emails, the same image is also present.

    Thanks again!

How about info on Lockscreen Slider?

    Info used to be

    Locked Screen

    Slider Bar
    /System/Library/Frameworks/TelephonyUI.framework/bottombarknobgray.png
    Unlock Text
    /System/Library/Frameworks/TelephonyUI.framework/bottombarlocktextmask.png

But when I go into Frameworks Telephony is no longer listed, not sure what it would have changed to.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Almost man

Nav to System/Library/PrivateFrameworks and u will find the TelephonyUI folder there that controls the Lockscreen files

Making a Winterboard theme and using:
    Bundles/com.apple.???
Those icons are in the Native Apps section.

    Nav to /var/stash/Applications.XXXXXX
& take your pick. I find opening the info.plist via iFile within each app gives you the Bundle ID needed for WB.

    Open as "Property List Viewer"

    Section 6 is named "CFBundleIdentifier"

Click on that and the "com.XXXX.XXXX"

Is the Bundle ID required in WB.

You will need just play with the icons.

I'm on the road today. See how u go

Good work for identifying this! Worse case can recompile as [email protected]k for time being if need be.

Let me know. I can recompile 6.1 artwork files for ppl that are desperate.

The Default loads initially correct? This is how each app works. iOS puts up a default image before all the separate items are then loaded which we can interact with. I have read that changing the SMS BG full time can only be done via WinterBoard as SMSBackground.png as its Code from iOS and higher. But that doesn't really help u. Sorry bud

Jato - this thread is great man, thank you.

    The problem:

When someone downloads my theme from Cydia, a bunch of thumbnails and images are placed in Library/Wallpaper/iPhone and are accessed in Settings->Brightness & Wallpaper->Wallpaper. In 6.1 they don't show up. I tried renaming them all with ~iphone at the end, still no dice.

Strangely, two images do show up, but the rest do not.

    In 5.1.1:

    -photo-3-.png

    In 6.1:

    -photo-2-.png

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks man! WIP! There is a lot of questions! Phew!

I looked at the files...I'm on 4S running 5.1.1 but have the 6.1 F/W on my phone.i5 is at home.

So looking at the files in Library/Wallpaper/iPhone

The directory is named as follows pic attached

    -imageuploadedbymodmyi1360276549.175421.jpg

and from what I can see ur images are displaying before the default iPhone ones. What were they named in 5.1.1? And how did u name them in 6.1?

Without having ur files im just guessing?

Oops, didn't realize you're not testing on 6.1. I'll look into it and post my findings. I think I may have to number them correctly...?
