Update guys for the 6.1.3/6.1.4 Untethered JB by @Winocm & @iH8sn0w

    http://www.idesigntimes.com/articles...aopxec.twitter

I for one am looking forward to the devices on 6.1.3/6.1.4 being supported.

A lot of ppl I know purposely downgraded to the above firmware versions in anticipation of this JB!

It may breathe a bit more life into iOS6 before a 7X JB is released.

Appreciate the efforts of these guys!

Nice! Fingers crossed sooner than later! Last ditch effort before iOS7 consumes all devices! I for one will be staying jailbroken on iOS6 & may just leave my i5 on it for good...possibly going to step aside on the 5S/iOS7 bandwagon & wait for the iphone 6 & iOS8 (beta in June nxt yr im guessing)

Default Desperate for some 'brain trust' help
    Jato,
You and your team here (Alfroggy, King, Simon, Dsg and others) have some of the best 'think tank' abilities on the forum - so I'm bringing this little problem to you and seeing if anything obvious jumps out. I've done something to my phone that affects either:
1)The GPS antenna's reporting to internal programs -or-
2)To the weather.app itself and any tweak based on getting info from it...

Symptoms & My attempts to fix:
1)My weather.app almost never updates when I open NC
2)The new Widget Weather tweak which gathers data from Weather.app and puts it into an XML) gets stuck after '1 update to the XML' and can only be unstuck, sometimes, by toggling on and off Location Services, rebooting phone or respringing. No ONE of the them ALWAYS works to unstick.
    3) All Widget Weather tweaks stick in this way for me - but no one else on the forum
    4) The sticking happens even after a Reset Location & Privacy, Reset Network OR a Reset All Settings. The problem continues through '3' iLex RESTORE II's back to back. The problem happens with ONLY iWidgets and Widget Weather installed besides Cydia - so even bare bones.
    5) I've removed and reinstalled the WidgetWeather 1.5-26 tweak many times - reinstalled MobileSubstrate several times as well.

What I did to my phone accidentally before most of this started:
    1) When trying to make Andrew's new Backboard software work when it wasn't - I went into var/mobile/Library/Preferences and erased a file called com.apple.backboardd.plist - which had NOTHING at all to do with the tweak called: Backboard, I found out later. The phone immediately went into an autoboot with the white on black progress bar that went accross the sceen. But then booted up fine and it regerenerated another com.apple.backboardd.plist file. I thought nothing further of it.. But as I read more about it - the 'backboardd' file is a pretty deepstructure file that I shouldn't have messed with.
    2) I'm often in the habit of going into var/mobile/Library/Documents and doing a Copy and Paste of the widgetweather.xml file to preserve it for later testing at home with widgets I'm designing. One afternoon I hit CUT by accident... (which doesn't immediately take away the file from the folder to our eyes) and then figured -- SHOOT -- I'll just hit PASTE. After I hit that PASTE, though, the widow went all wonky and I couldn't HOME button out of it.. It was stuck.. After a hard reset - the iFile window was still all weird with the title bar of the files in the middle of my window. A SECOND hard reset made things okay again.. AGAIN - I thought nothing of it..

But since those two events.. My weather.app and all widgets based on Widget weather get stuck and never update after maybe one update. EVEN my myLOCATION based widgets, that show city, don't update without a respring (something we fixed last spring with a RESET ALL SETTINGS and learning about the AJAX timeout cache needing to be set to false. All my Widget Weather iWidgets have the proper syntax for AJAX cache clear..

SO -- before I go looking through Walmarts and Best Buys stock rooms for an iP5 16GB with 6.1.2 on it.. or buy a jailbroken phone from eBay... I just wanted your think tank team to see if there's any PREFS file somewhere - associated with Weather.app that I could erase and have it re-create.. that might get me out of this mess. Remember, I've been through 3 iLex Restores in a row (which still sadly leaves a lot of folder created by tweaks after it's done).. I have not tried SemiREstore as I have no access to a PC and they took down the Mac version for problems..

Thanks for any help you and your team can offer.. I'm at the end of my knowledge of the DEEP layers of my phone...
    Grant

Check to see what the file permissions are for your documents folder and the widget weather xml file itself (with iFile).

Thanks, Simon.. I don't think that's the answer.. as the permissions for the widgetweather.xml are set at its creation by the Tweak. And I've played with a number of combinations with the Documents Folder - including changing owner from ROOT to MOBILE and back again.. Same result.

    You see anything weird?

My widget weather xml file is like so:
    Ownership:
    Owner-root
    Group-mobile
    Access Permissions:
    User-Read, Write, Execute
    Group-Read, Write, Execute
    World-Read, Write, Execute

Try that and see if it makes a difference or not.

Hmm... Very interesting.. Did you SET it that way, Simon? Because WidgetWeather itself set the permissions that way.. I've never opened that file permissions page ever.. So I sure didn't change it.

IF THIS is the 'smoking' gun of ALL my issues - I'll be very happy... But I can't imagine that's it.. And the vast majority of other people should have it set my way too -- again.. since I've never gone into that window to 'change' anything... But here's to hoping.. Thanks, Simon..

It could be this, as the file obviously needs to be read, but rewritten over too, and perhaps executed a well (if reading's not enough).

I even set my WinterBoard images to read, write and execute to be safe and don't run into issues as I had in the past when images wouldn't get swapped on toggling a particular theme I had kept making changes too and when the only workaround I had was to cut and paste the particular bundle from the theme folder in question to one I just created.

I analysed that behaviour which at first appeared to happen quite randomly, and realised a newly made folder is given the read, write and execute permissions and mobile, mobile, when done in iFile. No problem since.

Well now - I have to go drive around just to see if it's working.. LOL!!! I'll report in when I get back.. Part of me needs to go to the WidgetWeather thread and ask what other's permissions are set too..

Hope it works out for you Grant, I had WW installed on the earlier versions but have had installation problems (which I believe are now addressed). At this stage I'm not running it as focusing more on my theme WIP. Yes you are right there is a good team on here who help users where they can with iOS issues. Thanks for stopping by

I knew the paragraph you were referencing.. But not the reason for your concern...

It's not an 'urge to bombard', Alfroggy. When I ask a question it's always for good reason and can help others too. I just want to know if other people's permissions on widgetweather.xml file are set to the same as mine - whether or not Simon's fix works. It would give important feedback to the developer of WW to know that in some instances - the widgetweather.xml is set with different permissions based on each person's phone. That's all I would want to find out from them.

I think you may have misunderstood my intent.

    But thank you..

The permissions are set properly for WW in the package. If you recall, we had the same issue with myLocation not setting permissions properly either. I'm not sure why it sets fine on some devices but not others.
Widget-Weather App Now Available! Also with MyLocation Support!
Check out the thread here - Widget-Weather
To install the Widget-Weather app, just go to Cydia and install. This will also remove MyLocation, as it is built in!
Want to protect your JailBreak! Add this repo http://cydia.myrepospace.com/iLEXiNFO/ & Install "iLEX R.A.T."
It will allow you to bring your phone back to a fresh jailbroken state!

Changing the permissions to the same as Simon's did not solve my update problem. Thanks, Simon. But still no updating without a respring.

Anybody know anything about the prefs files associated with Weather.app? I'm convinced my issue is there.

Well worth a shot. I changed the permissions myself a while back so I figured it probably wasn't your issue but doesn't hurt to try.

I recommend removing it with cydia, then do a hierarchy search with iFile for the residual files and delete them too. then reboot
