I just realized that with the correct pixel dimensions, it does not matter what an image's ppi is set to.
For example, a 640x960 image set at 72ppi is 8.889in x 13.333in. When displayed on the iphone, however, the pixels crunch together to fit on the 1.963in x 2.945in screen, resulting in the image displaying at 326ppi.
The iPhone/iPod touch, 4/4S/4th Gen has a retina display with dimensions of 640×960 and resolution of 326ppi (pixels per inch)
All of the images in themes that I have looked at, though, are set at a resolution of 72ppi. 72ppi is the optimal resolution for web images.
Shouldn't theme images be saved at 326ppi, opposed to 72ppi?
Am I missing something? Is everyone missing something?
