not too sure about video tuts but there are a few places you can look to read, which app are you using to theme? winterboard, dreamboard, springtomize? ive never themed with springtomize but I have done a lot with both winterboard and dreamboard, and I could help you get started

I guess not. Only with the timezone difference I can't see it being much faster. Also thinking the thread may help others in the same boat as me. Up to you? First thing I'd Like to know about is the Retina HD icon resolution for the iPhone4/4S? I believe now you need to make two images and name one a .png and the other @2x.png? Then I'm unsure how to bundle them into a theme? I remember from back in the SD days, you had to create multiple files. Forgotten what to name them and Like I said how to bundle them. Would Like to learn the same information for other areas of a theme, such as Folder bkgnds and icons, other bkgnds etc. Still, any gen to get me started would be welcomed.

Well there'd be the main theme folder which would just be the name of the theme, inside you'd see the folders Bundles, Folders, UIImages, an Info.plist, and maybe a few images, the bundles folder is used to theme apps by their identifier (ex. com.apple.springboard) this folder allows you to theme just about every image within an app or springboard. It's complicated and I'll post images explaining what I mean when I get on a computer, but to explain the whole retina image thing, you would make two images, seeing as most retina screens have twice the resolution, pretty much say you have the SD and HD wallpapers, the SD would be 320x480 and HD would be 640x960 you would name the SD wallpaper just simply Wallpaper.png, while you'd name the HD wallpaper, [email protected], this will allow the retina devices to load the HD image, while Devices without the retina display, will load the SD version, in other words, there are plenty of PSD templates that have all versions of the icon, if you'd like me to link you to one

    57x57 (older iPhones)
    72x72 (iPad)

The images would be great thank you! As for the PSD templates, well I'm planning on using gimp as that's what I'm used to and what I have on my laptop lol. Cheers for all the knowledge shared so far!

above is the basic structure of the main theme folder and the bundles folder, it also shows what kind of images would be inside of the identifier folder in the bundles folder, the names for the images could be a little tricky to find though, each image is named the same as the corresponding image that its replacing, tricky part is finding the name of the image in the first place, for the springboard, you would navigate to

    /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

to theme the images in that folder, you would simply make a new image and give it the same name, and put it in com.apple.springboard inside of the bundles folder, i might not have explained that very well, just let me know if you arent following

No worries, I'll be around when your schedule lightens up, and I always encourage new devs and theme creators, you never know what kind of things they may release

Your structure image isn't appearing for me? I've managed to make some 114x114 .png app icons in gimp and cheated a little bit, by uploading them to Codethemed for now

    Up to date theming tuts?-photo.jpg

I'm kind of happy with them. The sharpness and quality could be better. Not sure if this is my lack of PhotoShop, experience or a little bit of both

Maybe going to try make a custom folder icon and background next. Still need to learn the paths though and how to bundle the themes hehe

If anybody reads this thread and would like to add to it, please feel free. Whether you can share some know-how or like me would like to learn some stuff. It could become a really helpful source

Learnt of some more useful info and managed to create my own custom folder icon and folderswitcher background themes. Unfortunately I'm currently receiving errors trying to upload the screenshot to show you, but I'll try again later. Anyway, your folder icon resolution should be 118x124 (iPhone 4/S) ,saved as a .png and called FolderIconBG@2x and your folderswitcher background 640x960 (iPhone 4/S) saved as FolderSwitcherBG@2x . To bundle, create a new folder on your desktop and name it, whatever you would like to call your theme. Open it and inside create another folder. Call this one Bundles. Once again, open and inside create a folder called com.apple.springboard .Finally, open this folder and place your two .png files inside and close. To SSH, navigate to Libary/Themes and drag & drop your theme here. Exit your favourite SSH program, now to your iPhone 4/S. Open Winterboard, select your theme, Respring and job's a good un! Hope this is a help to my fellow newbie themers

Good job, sorry I've been away for a while, my brother was visiting and then there was a birthday party and massive hang over and then I just drove him home yesterday but it's looking good, lately I've been trying to work more with dreamboard

Thanks and no problem. I've not checked out dreamboard since downloading it to my 3g. It bricked shortly after, so a bit reluctant to try it again. Still, never say never. Also think I'm going to struggle creating anything worth sharing unless I get Photoshop, but who knows. Just learning and having fun right now anyway, it's all good.
