Help with skinning/theming my status bar battery?

Hello i have some basic experience theming and today i had an idea. I want my iPhone Status bar battery to be:

0%-20% Red
21%-40% Orange
41%-60% Yellow
61%-80% Green
81%-100% Blue

Ive seen it done on android devices etc, but i cant seem to find this for iPhone Yet. Any help would be appreciated!

Also i still want it to look like the factory battery just different colors.

All i found was this but it is for HTC:




It seems that he made 100 different .pngs and assigned each one to a %.

Just before i wanted to start a thread about a cool statusbar theme (which i can't seem to find anywhere) i ran in to your post, this is a really cool idea for an iPhone battery status, hope some of the super artists around is able to turn this in to a iPhone / iPod theme...
