Quick question about the battery themes

Hi guys and gals,

I'm new here, as to say, I haven't posted before :-)

Just wanted to ask a quick question, as I plan on making some themes and want to start out fully prepared!

I have SSH'd the original battery charging states from my iPhone(4) and also SSH'd a custom battery charging theme from my iPhone too, so I could compare etc.

What I don't understand, is the @2x duplicate images, could someone please explain to me why we have two? Obviously one is twice the size of the other, but what is it used for? and which one is displayed on my iPhone..

I've seen people saying "for iPhone4" and "for iPhone 3GS" etc - how do I make a theme for the device? i.e is there a different way of saving the PNG's for each device?

I did have a quick search around and couldn't find anything on it..

Hopefully in return I can knock out some funky themes :-)

for iphone 4 and ipod touch 4g, all files are doubled the size with @2x.png
everything else before that, uses the normal one

yup @2x.png is for retina and without @2x is for non retina.
