Seems that way to me too.
and I have been told that most themes that are paid themes and that are worth having are hacked too. sad.

Well, only theme you need is the Buuf Theme!
But i agree. it seems to me that they make it, take $$ for it and then forget about it.
Could be me.. but thats how i stand!

Buuf theme is attractive, I'm just more into the clean professional look

I would say that Buuf is head and shoulders above any commercial Cydia theme (clean professional or not). Sure, there are some icons posted for Buuf that don't really deserve to be in it, but artistically and in terms of icon numbers, Buuf is way ahead of any other theme.
Finally, IMHO the auto-skinning themes that are becoming more popular these days are all (without exceptions) totally hideous and don't justify a price tag Cydia.

Why would I be jealous? I just lauded the Buuf theme, because it actually has hand-drawn icons and is a very original and complete theme and I contrasted that to recent trends of canned rims to stock icons for which people charge. You were the one who complained about incomplete themes being sold on Cydia. Then someone brought up Buuf and you prefer "clean and professional" as opposed to Buuf... So I say, your themes don't hold a candle to Buuf artistically (and neither do mine for that matter).

omg +1!
ya i noticed ALOT of paid themes dont have what they should for being paid themes....
I believe a paid theme should atleast have:
-Theme that is NOT just the default with a simply color change...
-Good flow together(having the theme match in all aspects)
-Versions that work for iphone&ipod
-All default apps fully themed + maybe SBsettings to go with it.
-All UIImages themed
-All of springboard.app themed
-Decent amount of icons
-Widgets/extras section
-UISounds
-Updates
but thats just me
there are a few theme i just have to mention.
iElemental pro($3.99 and is missing ALOT of things and some of it is copies of default images with minimal-no change...)
iStickers ($2.99 and not much change here...)
pimptastic pro($1.99 and is missing alot and is like the default theme with an orange hue and goc icons...)
im sure there are more/worse themes. But i have seen those ones 1st hand.Last edited by jbone1337; 02-17-2010 at 08:46 PM.

Totally agree. Seems like everyone is in for a quick buck or two regardless of their completeness.
As far as the auto-create function, I actually like it for what it is. It is hard for the author or other contributors to create an icon to satisfy everybody, and this capability fills that need. Certainly not perfect, but "good enough" until somebody with skills creates the real deal. That being said, a theme should not rely upon this capability....it should only be used to augment the theme as needed.kwickone I.T.H.

I completely agree with the above and have to admit that when I started theming I said I'd never charge for a theme (because I wasn't planning on making full themes) but now that I have started my first full theme (when I say full I mean perfectly complete) I think that most complete good theme should come with a small price tag, but I agree that too many people have been selling under-quality themes...maybe there should be a "approval" process like for the App Store Apps where the staff of the site votes on what themes can be paid themes ;p

Couldn't agree more.
I just started making themes, (Working on my second now) and they're both quite complete. I didn't recieve anything but good comments on the first one, and that was kind of an indication maybe I should put it up as a paid theme. I've seen paid themes that give you a wallpaper, and make almost every icon translucent..
Now thats just cluttering up the Cydia store with junk.
Maybe bring in an approval process, where the quality of the theme is tested by staff before it's put in the store.
Im not saying my themes are perfect, but i'd definitely say they're not bad.
Brad.

i agree i have noticed that there are more incomplete items in there. how can someone honestly be selling dialers and various app skins for $.99? those should be free but it they had about 400 other png's all packaged neatly into there respective folders then it should be considered sellable.
