Customizing the iPhone keyboard?

I've searched all over google trying to find a guide on how to customize the keyboard of the iPhone but have had no luck. I want to keep the same layout of the current keyboard but change the images of the keys. Does anyone know how to do this or have a link to a guide that will explain this?
