iphone 3gs question

for some reason, when i install a new keyboard style, it won't take. i cannot figure it out. most other things seem to work, i can change the icons, the springboard, everything else, but not the freaking keyboard.

oh, and if i wanted to change the MESSAGES icon or the COMPASS icon, is there a way to do that yet? Most of the themes I've seen only have icons for the OLD messages icon which won't register with the 3GS, and the old iphones didnt even have a compass so I don't know how to modify that file cuz I can't find it.

Any help would be amazing.

Compass will be under 'Compass.app' or whatever and messages will be under 'Messages.app' and keyboard styles for 3.0 isn't working at this point.
