How do you change the unread mail badge?
How do you change the little red icon that indicates if you have new messages?

System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app is the location and SBBadgeBG.png is the file u wanna change.
They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be.
They only lack the light to show the way.
For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son.

Its the same badge that is used in everything.
There are two ways to do it, via customize or in springboard folder.
/private/var/root/library/customize/badgeimage
or
/System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app file SBBadgeBG.png
After you change the file, respring or restart your phone for the changes to take effect
Attached is a bunch of different colored badges.Last edited by kcisjojo; 04-07-2008 at 01:30 AM.

There are also smaller badges found in the Other.artwork folder. Decrypting and recompiling that file is a hassle.

I also had this problem but found it through SSH,
You can locate the badge.png image for the theme you want in the directory /var/stash/Themes/YourThemeName.theme/
My SBBadgeBG.png was located in a folder names bundles, i just replaced that and then respring and it worked!
