How do I make icons transparent in photoshop? Sorry, I'm trying to learn if so I figured I'd ask the knowledged folk out there that make all those sick icons.

you can just lower the opacity by adjusting the slider on the layers palette. you can make them as transparent as you like then save as png NO interlacing.
