Home Screen Background
Hey guys!
First: Im not using Winterboard or any other application. Just a jailbroken iPhone 2G.
Here comes my question:
Do you have any experience in changing the home screen`s background without using Winterboard or similar customization apps?
Which code do I need to change in order to use an image as background?
The Dock`s background is no problem at all.
Does somebody have an idea how Winterboard changes the home screen`s background?
Cheers

The "User Wallpaper" option by default is just a theme with just a wallpaper. No coding, if you just want a custum wallpaper (one different than defined in settings perhaps) just make a Theme Name.theme folder and put your Wallpaper.png in there and check it in winterboard

Well there's his problem :P I don't know why people don't use winterboard, but if he is content on not using it I would try exploring the deep confines of your ipod and try to find if there is a folder that has a wall paper for the springboard, ASSUMING that it is a wallpaper, and just not a plain black background.

First: Thanks for trying to help me. ;-)
I already dug deeply into my iPhone`s file system and discovered that only the Dock is a .png-file. The rest of the Home Screen is just black.
There are solutions using an "oversized" icon as wallpaper. But thats pretty much "not handy" ;-)
Any alternatives? =)

Can't ssh the .png file into the original iPhone theme? I'll give it a try and see what happens.
I've seen all the Original Wallpapers files. Has to be a way.

Saurik is a programmer. he wrote the software that replaces the empty backgroud, where there is originally no image at all, and made it so we can have an image there.
So long, and thanks for all the fish
