Help with lock screen (using inav)

I've got the iNav montimedia theme with springboards up and running on my phone. I saw in another post that someone had their front screen set up like below. They somehow have their text updates on the front screen, where as i don't have this and wondered if anyone knew how i could change my iPhone to have my sms/mail updates like they have or anything at all, as they dont show up on my lock screen which is a bit annoying. I don't want to unlock simply to see if i have any sms. Thank you for any help in advance. If possible without the whole grey box too, just grey when there are updates to be shown. As i'm all new to this i don't know if i'm completely asking for too much. Just would like my sms updates etc to fit in with the theme more instead of the standard blue that is default.
