Default How to create a theme / change background?
    Hey,

I'm new here and got 2 questions.

First, how do I change the icon background? I know how to get wallpapers on the phone and change them, but how can I get my own favourite picture as background behind the icons?

Secondly, is there somewhere a guide that explains how to create an iPhone theme? I would like to make my own but got no clue what I have to get / do for that.

    Thanks in advance!

To do this you put the picture in the folder of your theme. This entails surfing your phone's files and directories. I'm on Windows so I use iPhonebrowser.

You don't mention what firmware you're running so the tutorial in my sig may or may not help you. If you're on a firmware higher than 1.1.2 the paths mentioned in the tutorial have changed. I don't recall where Summerboard themes are stored in newer firmwares off the top of my head.

But once you find the Summerboard themes on your phone, you replace the theme wallpaper with one of your choice.

This is all assuming you're jailbroken and have installed Summerboard installed. If not, you have some searching and legwork to do.

There is no guide that I know of because not everyone uses the same programs to create themes. Photoshop is the program of choice, I think, but I don't use it. I use paint.net because it's a close to Photoshop as you can get and it's free.

I also think that since there are different ways to create themes due to skill levels in graphics that a one stop manual would be hard to create. That would generate more questions like, 'How do I use the magic wand?' or 'How can I texturize this icon?,' when all these questions are widely answered elsewhere on the internet.

I think the best way to do it is to download a theme. Open up the different graphics in your program of choice and take note of the size and any other characteristics. This will give you a good starting point.
