    Default Stop mandating Winterboard!

Themes are great, but they aren't worth the wasted performance power from Winterboard. Can't we have an install option whether or not to use Winterboard?

The only thing easily changed without winterboard is the icons. and since they are all in one folder for winterboard use, it is easy to SSH and replace your originals.

    BUT

There is NO way to change the springboard BG without winterboard, so its not so much that everyone is mandating it, its just the simplest way to completely change everything.

    ALSO

with the latest updates, it doesnt affect performance all that bad, its a worth trade-off.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

You don't have to use winterboard. Winterboard simply makes it very easy, but to do the same thing without it's going to take a bit of work for you. Nobody is forcing you to use winterboard. It is a great tool, provided for FREE mind you, that makes the very time consuming work a matter of seconds. If you want to try I suggest google. But, since you are posting an idiotic statement, "stop mandating winterboard", I neither believe you have the know how or willingness to do the homework to find out how to do it. So, I see that you have 3 options; Stop using winterboard and be complacent with the stock look, use it and deal with the extra second it takes to load certain apps, or sell your phone and buy a crackberry. Also, there are plenty of apps that allow you to change and customize your iPhone without having to use winterboard. Again, you probably won't take the time to look though.

BTW...I'm not using winterboard myself because I wanted faster loading times like you. But, my iPhone is far from stock looking and it changes daily.

This may not have been IndianaCheeze's issue, but in a way . . I do wish more apps were released which allowed & forced us newbies to reach into the guts and learn about this beast . Making it simple is wonderful, but a few of us really want to learn. Google is great, but there's nothing better than a working example. JMHO

Yeah, Winterboard is for making it easy....and you DONT have to use it.

However, there are a few things that Winterboard does....that cant be done without it.

When the iphone first came out...all theming was does by countless command line work. Dont wanna go back to that.
