Phone & Weather

Two questions.

First off, how do you change the dialpad so it only works with a specific theme? Think the KillSignCarbon themes. I'm still working on making my own theme, but I can't figure out how to do the dialpad and whatnot. I've tried copying the MobilePhone.app folder from "Folders" into my own "Folders" folder, but its a no go. I still get the default dialer. However, when I actually select to use the killsign theme, it works. I'm confused.

Also, where are the files to change the weather screens? I've seen people with different graphics for sunny, party cloudy, etc., and would love to change mine to be a bit more realistic. Is it just as easy as findng them and changing the graphics?

within your theme you should have a Bundles folder. In that folder you will have any number of com.apple.xxxx folders. For the . For the Weather app, the folder inside /Bundles should be com.apple.weather. In that folder are the png files for the Weather wallpaper. In any event the files must be named the exact same filename as the stock files, weather_day_bkgd.png, weather_night_bkgd.png, and Default.png. In the case of the phone app, the files are in /Folders/MobilePhone.app folder. If the theme is not applying in your own theme, check your file naming scheme. Look for typos, spacing and also these filenames are case sensitive so check capitalization.

I've got the bundles folder, but there isn't the "weather" folder inside it. I've got a springboard and a telephone.ui folder. I looked at some of the themes I've downloaded (killsigncarbonpink, saurik's theme, etc) and I'm seeing the same thing. Is there another bundles folder somewhere? What's the full location (from the base root folder?)

Not all themes do a weather skin. You can create your own though using the file structure i mentioned. There is no other Bundles folder for a Winterboard theme.

What I have done is take a theme someone else has done to learn the file structure then I edit the pngs in Photoshop or Paint Shop pro depending if I'm on the PC or the Macbook. The actual image dimensions need to remain the same.

I am using a Weather skin that was originally available on the old Customize app and I repackaged it to work with Winterboard and SSH ot to my iPhone.

There are some Winterboard friendly ones right here on the MMi downloads.

Thanks...I'll check those out. Maybe I can find some new weather icons too (like for the individual days too)
