    1) dwnload winterboard
    2) ssh into ur iphone
    3) go to var/stash/themes/User Wallpaper.theme (folder) & var/stash/theme/User LockBackground.theme (folder)
    4)both folders will have wallpaper.jpg & LockBackground.jpg respectively
5)get your chosen wallpaper & lockbackground on the desktop
6)rename your chosen files to Wallpaper.jpg (for ur wallpaper)& LockBackground.jpg ( for ur lockscreen)..
7)drop them to their respective folders where you have seen before
    8)respring
    9)open winterboard & check User LockBackground.theme & User Wallpaper.theme
10)then drag both of them to the top & then exit winterboard.

    VIOLA! Now ur done!

I have been using this method but its very tedious when u want to change the spring board wall paper every time.

So now I use ripdev's Kate application. ( ofcourse u have to pay but i got an unlimited version on the new year sale) . Many people have issues with application but not for me. Just that u have use it the correct way

They have to be .png file format, not .jpg; if I'm not mistaken. Also .png is much better quality.

Wow, impressive. With Summerboard, all you had to do with flip a switch. Now I understand why Winterboard is so superior.
