Winterboard gone on my 3G. Phone is more stable and usable. Sad. Maybe with the 3gs or whatever is next it will work fine, but for now I'd rather USE my phone than have it look pretty.

Been using my 3G with Winterboard for the past 6 months. For the first time today, I uninstalled Winterboard, and rebooted iphone. WOW! Major difference in perfomance as if I just had first bought it. Winterboard is gone and will never be reinstalled again. Hopefully they fix the memory issues with it soon.

Winterboard shouldn't make your phone lagg at all. Maybe with a video wallpaper, but else i don't see any problems. It wouldn't be noticeable

Winterboard in my experience uses up about 10-12MB of RAM. Unless you have an iPhone 3G and already have several other mobile substrate apps installed just the installation of WB should not slow down the phone. This is due to the fact that mobile substrate apps do not take up any CPU cycles at all... only RAM.

Some general questions about the slow down
Can someone explain me why Winterboard slows down the iPhone?
Is it Winterboard itself, regardless how big or complex your theme is in total, or is the theme slowing down the iPhone? Maybe both together?
I would like to theme the GUI and icons etc. directly in the original stock folders instead using Winterboard, but it will take much more time to theme the iPhone GUI after a restore. Would it be possible to create aliases or a script to replace the original stock images like the UIImages?
Would it help to replace some parts of a theme directly in the original stock folders, to reduce the slow down of the iPhone by reducing the complexity of the theme?
Thanks in advance!
Birke
P.s.: Which process is the Winterboard process? I can't see Winterboard listed?

I never aware of "top" command in cydia. I just apt-get install top and it works like charm
Anymore handy command to share? So far I just installed sudo only
