Need the system location of the background, I refuse to use winterboard, and don't tell me not to mess with system files I've been doing it before most of you we're born!
    Anyone?

Nope I changed both the images at var/stash/Applications/MobileSMS.app

But I still see the originals after killing the app and rebooting
One of them does show for a second then it's replaced with the original, and there are other images in the messages app that are not in that location Si they must be somewhere else

Try installing fsWipeCache and run that then see what happens?
