I am looking to change the appstore icons but using the steps below. My problem is when I try to edit the icon.png file it will not open in cs2. Gives me error for all png's. Is there something I need to do?
**CHANGE APPSTORE ICONS**
if you want to change any appstore and still have a working app follow this guide.
1. you will need the new app winterboard (install from Cydia)
Once you install winterboard you will have this path: Library/Themes (there will be 1 default theme, but you can add your own)
to add your own theme add a folder to the theme folder.
this is what you want to see: Library/Themes/(theme name)
then add a folder called Bundles : Library/Themes/(theme name)/Bundles
now you have to get the path for the app you want to change.
goto this path: var/mobile/Applications
appstore apps are listed by a bunch of letters & Numbers
Example: EEF94467-0812-4AA6-B245-31673A25F6D1 ( this belongs to Jirbo Avatar app)
then you will open the folder with the apps name and download the apps Info.plist to your computer and open it with any text editor.
you then want to look for something like this (com.jirbo.JirboAvatar)
you will use this to make a folder with the same name
Hi!
I try to use this way to change icons of the iTunes Store Apps with Winterboard but I have a problem... Palringo icon can change in the right way but when I try to change the 2D sense and look for the ".com.." and make the folder with the same name not work at all.... also in the "info.plist" of Wedict are none ".com..."... any idea? thanks!
If you are using winterboard to manage themes you do not need to edit anything.
Create your icon in Photoshop that you want to replace the original one with. Save it as a .png You have to save the png with the name of the app you are making the icon for Example: The phone icon should be named Phone.png the email icon should be named Mail.png the SMS icon should be named Text.png and they are case sensitive.
On your desktop create a folder named dukebdx12. Open it up and create another folder inside called Icons. Be sure to capitalize it.
Now open up the Icons folder and stick your icon in there.
SSH into your phone to this directory: /private/var/stash/Themes.TAaRQK
Dump your dukebdx12 folder that is on your desktop into there and then start winterboard and scroll down to your theme, select it, and then after your phone resprings you will see your icons.
Photoshop will not open default apstore icons. Corel Paintshop Pro will, but they are all blank.
Dude.. I use the "dukebx12" method and works flawless!.. only say for the guys that tried with this way that they should use the name of the App that appear in the Spoof list inside BigBossPrefs. Thanks a lot men and this demonstrate the BIG power of Winterboard for mooding.. yeah!... Saurik goes to heaven :-D
