If you are using winterboard to manage themes you do not need to edit anything.
Create your icon in Photoshop that you want to replace the original one with. Save it as a .png You have to save the png with the name of the app you are making the icon for Example: The phone icon should be named Phone.png the email icon should be named Mail.png the SMS icon should be named Text.png and they are case sensitive.
On your desktop create a folder named dukebdx12. Open it up and create another folder inside called Icons. Be sure to capitalize it.
Now open up the Icons folder and stick your icon in there.
SSH into your phone to this directory: /private/var/stash/Themes.TAaRQK
Dump your dukebdx12 folder that is on your desktop into there and then start winterboard and scroll down to your theme, select it, and then after your phone resprings you will see your icons.
Photoshop will not open default apstore icons. Corel Paintshop Pro will, but they are all blank.
