new theme wont show up on my phone

i have a 1.1.4 unlocked iphone.. bought it from a guy and it has the cydia installer.. I was looking through the themes and thought i downloaded it but when i got back to the normal screen its just how it normally.. what do i have to do to actually get it to change..? probably a stupid question but just want to know how to do it.. thanks

u need to install summerboard and/or customize.
