Can you customise the "no service message"?
As the title says really, I'm using my iPhone without a sim so I always have that "No service" message in the top left. I was hoping I'd be able to change this in a similar way to skinning the carrier logo. Either to say something else or notthing at all.
Any thoughts?Last edited by z0mbi3; 04-24-2008 at 03:06 AM.

Just tried that now and it doesn't effect the "no service" message.

that's in the springboard strings, u can change it in customize (text only)
They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be.
They only lack the light to show the way.
For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son.

Could you explain how you did it as I can't see an option to change that message on Make it mine.
Is there another way without installing customize? I'm on 1.1.4 and aside from that if it's just a case of SSHing in and editing something I'd rather do it that way.
OR another app. I just don't need the whole of cusotmize if you get my meaning.Last edited by z0mbi3; 04-24-2008 at 09:02 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Umm let me see if I remember, u need to go to (this is for doing it manually) SSH to System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/English.lproj then save that file (use iphonebrowser if u dont already its e-z'est to me) Now open that file in a text reading program on ur computer and u can change the texts that way then just save it and place the *new* strings back to the same location. System/library/coreservices......etc.
The strings are kinda hard to read at first but it should look like this
To change the text "Slide to Unlock" on the lock screen, you scroll down to
<key>AWAY_LOCK_LABEL</key>
<string>Slide to Unlock</string>
What ever you type in the string where it says "Slide to Unlock" is what it will state on your phone.
If you want it to say "Open Now" Then the same two lines should look like:
<key>AWAY_LOCK_LABEL</key>
<string>Open Now</string>
*props to erandall39 for ur examples in ur write up, saved me some typing lol*They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be.
