Here's my mod. I don't know how long it will stay as I am having performance issues that are really starting to annoy me. My suspicion is either the 5column springboard or springjump that is causing the performance issues. I've spent so much time on it , its painful thinking about letting it go! haha

I modified almost everything that is modifiable *sigh* I wanted to have more icons on the page rather than just one per page so I decided to figure out how to fit 2 per page and have 5 categories instead

Credit goes to :-
-Reeco for the iNAv idea
-Montmedia&Tajiro for the montmedia theme that this is based and modified from
- Armadillo for the Aqwoah icons and three are some icons that are from Stereo Leopard.

^^^Could be categories sapping your performance, especially if you have them all set to run in the background.

I'm going to have to agree with dsg here because as I was writing my theme, I originally used categories because I thought "what an awesome idea!" but when you start making backgrounds for Categories, and leaving them running in background, etc. it really starts to take a toll on what little memory the phone has, so I changed to springjumps and I don't have those memory issues any longer. springjumps can't cause too many memory issues because it's simply jumping to something that is already on the phone and built into the iPhone OS, kinda like a windows shortcut on your desktop pc. 5 column springboard /might/ be having some small memory issues on your phone, but I don't know the validity of that since I have it installed currently. The different between when I didn't have it before and I do have it now though seems to be very little if at all, but that's just hypothetical until I actually do testing on that. Maybe someone else has some information on memory usage with 5 column?

Thanks for all the suggestions. What do you mean run in background? As in "Keep REsident" set to On? Mine isnt on though.

Only background.png. I just turned all the background.png off and there's no difference. :-( (checked processes)

I've had the categories before I even installed inav but memory issue wasnt that bad. Its only slow when I have to access the folders.

I guess I have to keep on trying other methods until I find the main cause. Now .. my mem apps (free memory, memtool, memory info) all crashes when I try to free memory (after inav). Looks like its doing more harm than good.

Sorry, yes I meant "Keep REsident" and no you need it switched off, I thought you might have it switched on.

you said 'I modified almost everything that is modifiable' it could be that winterboard its self is eating memory.

Instead of using Winterboard you could if your confident and know what your doing, you could skin apps and other stuff the old way eg: SSHing /var/stash/Applications/MobileSafari.app then back up the images then replace them with your own.
