Default Problem ad from Brother, Inc - popping up at botton of web page when on forum
    Mmi Staff,
There is this ad from Brother, Inc... advertising for a brother MFC-J4510DW following me around to every thread. It's on both my Mac laptop and desktop and only when I'm on Mmi Forums. My popup blocker is on. No affect. In the threads I'm in I've heard this from many people starting last night including one of your Mods/Admins; Cowboy. Is there anything that can be done. You can't X out of it - after it presents for the third time.. And it prevents you from reading or clicking on any buttons in the forum underneath it. Here's a screenie of it..

    Let me know,
    Grant

I'm just throwing this out there:

I'm on a PC, but its not doing it to me. I even checked 3 different computers. Now if I turn my Adblock off, then I get it. It sounds like your Adblocker just isn't working or that its out of date.

Hmm.. I guess the question is - is MMi okay with this type of intrusive ad being allowed on their site. I've never had a single ad ever get past the pop up blocker of Firefox, Chrome and Safari on multiple computers before. All of which are the most current browser versions. No other website I've ever visited - ever - has allowed an ad get past pop up blocker. So I'm hoping MMi will consider this their issue to try and fix.

But thanks for your thoughts, King. If I have to buy a 3rd party ad blocker - I guess I will.

The Mac version of Chrome still has the problem on my end and doesn't show an "ad blocker version" per se. It just has the typical checkmark in "block pop-ups" like other browsers do. How would I check my version, King?

In Chrome select the "Customize and control Google Chrome" icon (looks like 3 little horizontal lines), then select "Tools" then "Extensions".

That will show you all your extensions with version and if they are active etc...

.. Boohoo.. It's not gone from my computer.. Still there.. in all browsers. Whether it's my iphone or my computers.. something always 'unique' ... Have you confirmed with Cowboy that it's gone from his computer? Do I need to log out of the forum and back in maybe?

  20. #16
Yes, I would log out fully close and then open and log back in and see if that helps.

Take a look here.. Even when logged fully out - quit browser - cleared cookies and all caches - and even restarted.. This is what I get the moment I try to even come to the forum...

If you use Chrome, do you have the same version of AdBlock as I listed above?

Maybe if you buy the Dell Venue Pro, the ad will go away. BAM, Krima just solved your problem. Your welcome.
