Thread: RockApp VS. Cydia

I used to perfer Rock but it screwed up my phones too much. Cydia is definately better!

2) Interface is quite confusing, even for a "professional" such as myself.
3) I can't add any third-party repos. I add them, but it doesn't refresh them or gather up their packages.
4) It's rather slow.
More are available upon request, but as I haven't used Rock in a long time, I probably can't come up with any more.

2) Not a fact - An opinion as I am a professional myself
3) Good point
4) Not slow on mine - Maybe on a 3G or 2G?
5) Never had any stability issues on mine. Most likely a conflict with something else? Again, not a fact - just a isolated incident.
Please provide more as #3 has been an issue for me.
I started using rock about 6 months ago so it's very possible old revisions "sucked." As it sits now I love the newest features of it and wish Cydia would incorporate similar. If you haven't tried it recently, do so and give us a revised opinion.

Can someone tell me where to post my question? I purchased and am using mywi. The machines I tether to the phone produce local search results on sites such as google from places I am nowhere near. Other states. My iPhone produces proper local search results. Why? Is my information I consume over the web while tethering going through servers that will steal personal information for bad purposes?

I prefer Rock to Cydia but I probably use both equally. Rock just looks a lot nicer and I like being able to sort apps by rating or add date.
If Rock has the app I want I use it, if the app I want is in Cydia I use it. I've never had any problems with either so they will both be staying on my phone.

Icy is old. I use Cydia, although at times it will crash randomly or right after reloading data after installing something. I've used Rock before, and really like it, but I'm not sure now since many people have had many problems with it.

Never happened to me when I used to use Rock.

Another reason to ditch Rock:
Here's two recent posts from chpwn ( developer of proswitcher, infinIboard & Infinidock) from twitter:
Next update of my apps will uninstall the stupid "Appsidy Plugin". God, @rockyourphoneco, you guys are desperate to piss people off >_>...
(Note that the Appsidy plugin /modifies Cydia/ and will cause major issues when Cydia is updated, if not before.)

Cydia is where it is at for me. Rock bricks my phone. No pun intended.

Rock broke my iPhone.
06-12-2010, 10:37 AM #77
Of course it did.

That's what Rock does best.
06-12-2010, 03:02 PM #79
Indeed it does.

I use them both, and have no problems.
