using this method to make some ringtones (see below) but for whatever reason i can only get 2 out of the 5 rintones i made on my phone?? note: all or most of the songs i used were not downloaded via itunes

what am i doing wrong??

"1. Find the song you want to convert to a ringtone
2. Get Info on the song, go to the "Options" tab
3. Set the start and stop time for exactly where and how long you want the ringtone to be
4. Right click and select "Create AAC version" to convert the song to AAC encoding (if you haven't set your preferences in iTunes to convert to AAC, Google how to do that first)
5. Locate the AAC version of your song - it is an .m4a file in your iTunes library (Right-click the file then select "Show in Finder" on a Mac)
6. Copy that file to your desktop
7. Rename the filename extension from .m4a to .m4r
8. Delete the ringtone AAC file from the iTunes application, move it to Trash
9. Unset the start/stop times for the song you created
10. Import the .m4r file from your desktop"

Well, double check cause ringtones can only be a maximum of 40 seconds in length (I usually set mine to 30 cause it goes to voicemail be then anyways). If they are longer than the max they will not work.
