I have replaced the new tones of the SMS(.caf) with those original, but selecting the sound from the formulation of the Iphone (3G Softwares 2.1) nothing doesn't feel him. What must I do??? Help me!!!!!!!!

I'm having the same problem... cant get the sms tones to work in 2.1.

I created a subfolder within my .theme folder called UISounds, and placed all custom theme sounds, including sms tones, in there. To receive new SMS notification alerts (from the springboard), the file would need to be named: sms-received1.caf.

ok so i get how to replace the sms tone just in general but is there any way to have a custom SMS tone assigned to a contact....just like a ringtone would be? and on 2.2 if that??? i get how to just change the generic one but i still cant find a steady answer on assigning an sms tone to a particular contact so when they text you it plays there sound.

To make any sms custom tone work through Winterboard you must have Tri-tone as your default sms tone.
I've had the mario 1-up sound since I found that out.

like i said i know how to do a single custom sms tone just fine. its not that hard actually. what i want is like an sms tone for a particular contact. so when contact A texts me it plays one sms tone but when contact B texts me it plays another.

all you have to do is replace the actual sound files in the UIsounds folder or whatever. do it the old school way
