Depends on what sounds you wanna change. You can use Winterboard to change some, or manually place the files urself. There's also a program called "ToneFX" on Cydia that will change some.

You can download sounds from Cydia and apply them through Winterboard. Otherwise it's SSH.

The "slide to unlock" tone is Unlock.caf in system UISounds folder and can be changed using Winterboard.
For SMS tones, you gotta SSH them into the phone and overwrite on of the originals.

For winterboard create a folder with a name like MY SOUNDS then Make A UISounds folder inside of the MY SOUNDS folder and put your sound files in there. They all have to be .caf files I beleive and they have to have the correct names like sms-received1.caf thru sms-received6.caf, unlock.caf, lock.caf,new-mail.caf, receivedmessage.caf, sentmessage.caf, voicemail.caf, beep-beep.caf is the charging sound when you plug your USB cord in, tock.caf is keyboard sound. Search for what you want to change.
By the way, all these files can be changed without overwriteing the originals.Last edited by jarthurs1981; 10-31-2008 at 12:24 PM.

I haven't had much luck with changing sounds through winterboard. Mainly the SMS tone. The rest seem to have no issues most of the time, but that SMS tone is a bummer. 9 out of 10 times it defaults to the OEM tone.
