using itunes set up the import settings to AIFF, then right click the item and choose 'convert to AIFF', locate that file and rename it sms-received*.caf and replace the original in audio/UISounds

however i dont know how to change the name of the tone (im sure it will be in a .plist somewhere im just not motivated enough to look)

if you dont understand my instructions they are pretty similar to creating ringtones in itunes so just google that
