    Default How to change Mail Alert tone ?

    Hi ,
    Anyone knows how to change Mail alert tones? The default one is short and not able to notice the mails when its locked .

    the RIGHT way would be to use customize... but that doesn't work on 2.0.1!

    If you have the tone in .caf format you can just replace /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/new-mail.caf
    with your new tone.

    make sure to save off the old /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/new-mail.caf file.

    then respring or reboot.

    Hi, I was wondering if the tone had to be in a specific sound format? mp3or aac or another??

    I know the extension has to be .caf, but the file format??

    caf is aiff. (so it's ANOTHER!!)

    I changed the mail sound to the "glass" sound in OS X...I just renamed it from Glass.aiff to new-mail.caf and dropped it in the UISounds folder.
