A Look At the Incipio Edge Pro Case for iPhone 5
With the holidays coming up, the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5 cases are sure to be at the top of many people’s Christmas lists. So this week, we will be showing you a new case each day and hopefully you’ll see something you want to add to your list. Last month we showed you the Incipio Feather case for the iPhone 5 and today, we're taking a look at the Incipio Edge Pro case for the iPhone 5.
Above you can see the Incipio Edge Pro in all of its glory. It has a nice wide-open space in the front so you have complete access to the home button, front-facing camera, front speaker, and touch screen.
The Incipio Edge Pro case is a slide-in case for the iPhone 5 that has a removable bottom for access to the phone. The asymmetrical style of the bottom part of the case gives you superior grip on the iPhone when you want to pull it out of the case. We noticed that the case has a very tight fit when putting the slider cap on, so there will be no chance of the case accidentally slipping off on you. In fact, it was even slightly difficult to open and close, so this isn’t a case that you’ll want to be taking your phone in and out of all the time.
When it’s all put together, you’ll see a colored trim on the back where the case parts separate and you’ll see a colored trim coming off of the camera and going all the way around the frontal bezel of the case. Thanks to the bezel being raised over the screen, we can put the iPhone face-down on the table without worrying that our screen is going to get scratched. Not only does the case have this protection measure, but it comes with a screen protector as well that you can apply before putting your iPhone in the case. That being said, the case offers a good amount of frontal protection.
Thanks to the hard shell style of the case, we can be assured that the rear of the iPhone is also protected, as are the edges. There aren't any holes in the case exposing any part of the iPhone from the rear (apart from the camera), so you have an optimal amount of rear protection as well as frontal protection. The hole for the rear camera includes enough room for the lens, microphone, and LED flash without causing any disturbance to your photography and video-shooting.
Looking at the controls of the iPhone through the case, you can see that the volume buttons are shielded with a rubberized, colored overlay so you’re never actually touching the metal on the iPhone. The ringer/silent switch on the other hand is wide open for you to switch, but it may require a good fingernail to reach.
The power button on the top of the iPhone also gets a colored, rubberized overlay. On the right side of the case, you will find Incipio’s logo engraved into the case right above the trim.
At the bottom of the case is a nice, wide-open space for accessories and access to the speaker and microphone. Most headphones’ and speakers’ 3.5mm headphone jacks will fit into this space, but there are a select few that won’t. The lightning connector has a ton of room and then some, no matter which way you plug it in. The nice open area also makes it easy to hear the speaker and makes it easy for the microphone to hear you when you're in a phone call.
The Incipio Edge Pro comes with a complimentary folding stand that's perfect for charging the device, watching videos, or having FaceTime calls:
The case feels pretty rigid in the hand being that the edges of the case are 90º angles and not really tapered whatsoever. There’s definitely a good amount of drop protection included with this case, since the outside is a harder surface and the inside is coated with shock-resistant silicon that absorbs shock to your iPhone during bumps and drops.
The Incipio Edge Pro retails for $34.99 and comes in the following color choices on Incipio's Web site:
- Obsidian Black with Black trim
- Optical White with Hot Pink trim
- Charcoal Gray with Citron Yellow trim
- Vivid Violet with Charcoal Gray trim
- Mist Gray with Cyan Blue trim
If you thought the Incipio Feather might have been a little too minimalist for you, the Incipio Edge Pro may be a good case invest in. It will get the job done if you need more protection and we're giving it 3 out of 5 leaves for the protection, although we wish the opening and closing of the case wasn't such a hassle.
Each unit comes with a complimentary microfiber cloth and screen protector as well as the folding stand.

These cases are all the same... Whenever I need to switch my sim-card I have to remove the whole case. Any chance they could create a case with a small hole for the sim tray?

I bought my GF the Edge incipio case last year for her iPhone 4S and it has taken a beating and protected the phone very well. I have to say the makes some awesome cases and I doubt her phone would be working without this case. They are pricey but well built.

>Cut a small hole
>Sand off exces till you like what you get
PS: lol, you know why they dont make a hole for the sim card slot?
>Because a normal person wouldnt be switching SIM cards every 5 minutes...
So stop whining please and just take the case off and switch your sim card ok.. You're just lazy

Honestly I'm not a big fan of slide up case rubber case or any type of other cases, only case I buy is lifeproof that is worth the money and the time hella of a case. I've dropped my iPhone a million times different millions of ways(on my iPhone 4S) and has never let me down and on my iPhone 5 I love it I won't spend money on no other case but lifeproof. Y'all should do a review on that. Saves money on screen protectors as well."You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not"

Case is far uglier than other similar cases. As another said, cheap looking.
