No idea why they feel the need to lock your phone if they will unlock it at anytime...... *sigh*
Didn't know this was possible, any idea how long this takes to get done after submitting the form?

    Count me in please!

I can't say that I would mind a free unlock. I just signed a new 2-year contract, but hey, why not?

Not anymore. For out of contract phones, sure they do for free - up to 5 phones. But the article was about in-contract phones and after a few days they stopped doing it. Now for an in contract phone you need to use an unlock service as described in post #1.

    And count me in too!
Here to help if I can. If I can't I know someone who can!

I would like to unlock my iPhone 4S.

I used that AT&T web form, but they won't unlock it because it's still under contract.

this i dont get?? if your foreign carrier doesn't offer a nano sim yet, then why not just cut the current micro sim to size? on ebay, they are already selling nano sim card cutters. also, there's a template floating around which you can cut it yourself.

to use a foreign SIM in the iPhone already (good luck though - your carrier will need a compatible nano-SIM)

we'll if carriers (ATT) didnt lock the iphone, there would be no obsession to unlock it. i have a 2yr contract with ATT, but even if i unlock it (so i can use it when i travel) .. i will still be using ATT. but even if i leave, ATT will send me a $250 early commitment fee. Thats the same price difference as purchasing a non commitment unlocked iphone.

i think for the most part, ATT customers with a subsidized unlocked iphone will NOT leave ATT. we just want the flexibility when we travel
