05-07-2012, 04:56 PM #1[GIVEAWAY] Otterbox Reflex Series for iPad 2
Today we’re having a look at the Otterbox Reflex Series for the iPad 2. While the Reflex is a little bit cheaper than the Defender Series, Otterbox’s most expensive case line, It comes with some nifty features that make it a complete, well rounded case.
When buying an iPad case, like any case for any electronics. There are a few things to consider. Things such as looks, ability to protect, functionality, size, are all things to consider, and everybody will have their own opinion. If you are looking for a minimalistic case, then Otterbox is not the place to go. We’ve already reviewed Otterbox’s full lineup of cases for the iPhone 4/4S and our conclusion was that while they aren’t the most petite cases out there, they do a bang up job of keeping your devices from getting banged up. (that last part sounded better in my head but I’ll go with it). The same holds true with the Reflex for the iPad 2.
The reflex is actually a 3 piece case when broken down. One piece slides onto the bottom rear of the iPad while another onto the top rear and they lock together to protect the entire backside. Yet another piece can cover the screen if needed. The two pieces that go on the back are quite similar to the Reflex for the iPhone 4/4S. To avoid scratching the iPad casing there are some felt pads which are much appreciated. The fitment is perfect as always and there are cutouts for the headphone jack, volume buttons, speakers and camera.
The third piece can be used as an optional accessory. It’s a type of shield for the screen should you need it. While using it it would be off but if you’re storing the iPad or putting it in a bag to take it somewhere it offers complete protection. The There are flexible hinges that wrap around the two corners and one side of the iPad, securing it to the screen.
The best part though is that the front cover is that it’s multifunctional and doubles as a stand. It lets you stand the iPad up in either portrait or landscape mode, for typing or watching movies, etc. There is a strip that runs down the cover that is flexible and allows the cover to bend into a stand. We like functionality in our cases and this one definitely offers that.
As far as protection goes, this case does a great job….it is an Otterbox after all. It isn’t the most elegant case you will find. It is a bit bulky with the front cover installed but the back part of the case is actually quite sleek and doesn’t add too much bulk. The case goes for $69.95 and you can pick one up on Otterbox’s website.
We're giving this case 4 out of 5 leaves.
Otterbox is giving one away so if you have an iPad 2 (this case will NOT fit the new iPad) be sure to use the widget to get entries into the raffle as well as leave a comment and we’ll announce the winner in a couple days.
