Default PLEASE HELP! iphone 3G 4.2.1 stuck at emergency only screen!
I bought this phone not too long ago from a friend in hopes of turning it into an iPod touch! My nephew, who is a young teen, got a hold to it and I honestly don't know what he has done to it! I've been looking through, and can't seem to figure out, how to get off of this screen! There is a SIM card inside.. Can anyone tell me in what direction to go?? I've download already, redsnow 0.9.6b5 but ive been honestly scared to use it! Also, is it true once you switch one over to an iPod touch, that you can't change back to the normal phone??? Thanks so much in advance!

If you know who it is locked to you can activate it with that carriers sim card. If you want to hactivate it without a sim you can use redsnow 0.9.6rc17 or rc19.

You dont have to choose any options if you don't want. Just running it and following the instructions will hactivate it. You can install cydia if you want.

Sim in or out doesn't really matter. It will sync just fine without it.

wow! Really had no idea it would be that simple, very thankful that it was though! I Can't thank you enough! since i wont be using this as a phone, would it be a good idea to switch to a little newer version than 4.2.1? Also, if i ever did decide to use it as a phone, what program would be the best to unlock it?

4.2.1 is as high as a iPhone 3G can go. To unlock it you can use redsnow to put the ipad baseband on it then install ultrasnow from cydia.
