Exclamation Upgrade to ios 5.1.1 from tethered ios 5.0(9A334)
I originally had a new iphone that I downgraded to ios 5.0.1. When I tried to jailbreak it using redsnow, it dropped the firmware to 5.0 tethered jailbreak. My goal is to have ios 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak....I have tried upgrading using iTunes but when the iphone restarts it gets stuck mid bootup i believe due to the fact it is a tethered jailbreak. How do I upgrade to either 5.0.1 or to 5.1.1?

Just a thought... Is your iPhone booting correctly on iOS 5.0.1 (albeit Tethered)? If so it may be possible to open Cydia, and add the Rocky Racoon Untether iOS 5 package which should patch the kernel and allow untethered booting of your iPhone
naturally thats only going to work if your iPhone can boot.

Is Redsn0w up to date? Try with the latest version.

Failing that it may be worth trying Sn0wbreeze from iH8sn0w.com (scroll down for the download links), use Sn0wbreeze to download the IPSW file, then in Simple mode build a new IPSW file. You can use Redsn0w to enter pwned DFU mode, then once your in pwned DFU mode, try pointing iTunes to your sn0wbreeze custom IPSW file. This restore process will restore a jailbroken iOS to your device including support for Cydia, and AFC2 by default.

I hope this helps, I am overly tired right now and you may have already tried this, but I'm sure we'll manage to sort this for you

    Good luck!!
