Can I JB a 3GS on 4.0.1?

Here's my problem. I used redsn0w, got the custom firmware, used the option button to restore, but now it says there's an error 1600.

It means you didnt enter pwned DFU first. Run redsnow, click extras, choose pwned DFU then follow instructions. Once in pwned DFU restore to the custom firmware you made.

at first it said there was an error with the SHSH blobs. I have blobs saved for 5.0.1 on the cydia server. Now it's saying that the device isn't recognized on redsn0w.

Not making any sense sorry. You dont need SHSH for 5.0.1 as that is the current firmware.

Are you sure that usb cord is working? It looks pretty beat up, that could be the reason.

No, that's not it. I used my friends charger and it still won't turn on.

Plug it in then hold home and power button for 10 seconds. Then let go. Then press power button to see if it turns on.
