Can't jailbreak either of my iphones

Whenever i try to jailbreak my iphone 4 with 5.0.1 it just hangs at waiting for reboot, i tried using all the tip everyone else suggested, pointing towards the ipsw, trying different computer, trying different usb port. I don't think im doing anything wrong becuase i did the exact same thing with my ipod touch with the same stats and it worked flawlessly. ANd with my other iphone i jailbroke it tethered because it had 5.0 firmware, so i tried to restore and update so i can do it untethered, but cydia is still there, it just won't work, and it didn't update, what should i do for either of my problems? i'm pretty desperate.

If u don't need unlock, just restore it to iOS 5.0.1 & jb it with redsn0w 0.9.10b3.

I agree easiest thing will be to use redsnow 09.10b4 tho not 09.10b3 cause B4 now has iBooks fix
